Aerolineas Argentinas

Aerolineas Argentinas, formally Aerolíneas Argentinas SA, is Argentina's largest airline and its main carrier. The airline allows the transportation of pets in the cabin, baggage hold and as cargo on most of its flights.

If your pet weighs no more than 9 kg, including its container, you can take it on board. You must book a place for your pet at least 72 hours before the flight by calling customer service at 1-800-333-0276. Cats and dogs travel in the cabin, subject to the following conditions:

· Pets traveling on board must be at least 12 weeks old (16 weeks old on flights to/from the USA);

· Pet owners must provide all the necessary documentation;

· Only one pet (cat or dog) in one container is allowed per passenger. However, you can bring up to two pets if one of them is carried in the baggage hold;

· Pets must be clean and odorless;

· The company does not accept pets undergoing veterinary treatment and aggressive pets;

· Transportation of brachycephalic breeds of dogs and cats in the cabin is prohibited;

· The pet must be transported in a transport bag/container provided by the passenger;

· The container must be placed under the seat in front of the pet owner;

· Pets must stay inside the container during the whole flight and must not disturb other passengers;

· It is prohibited to feed pets in the cabin during the flight.

Please note that the company will ask you to bring a 70% alcohol solution to disinfect your pet’s cage upon check-in. The remaining unused solution will be disposed of as it is considered a dangerous good and cannot be taken into the cabin.

When choosing a container for the cabin, consider the following requirements:

· The transport bag/container must be waterproof, solid, well-ventilated and safe;

· There must be enough space for the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down without any difficulties;

· The maximum dimensions of soft bags are 44 x 30 x 20 cm;

· The maximum dimensions of rigid containers are 44 x 30 x 17 cm.

If you do not comply with the company’s requirements, your pet will not be accepted in the aircraft cabin and the service fee will not be refunded. Instead, you can move your pet to the baggage hold.

Please note that in this case the difference between the price for the cabin and the baggage hold will not be refunded.

Pets weighing more than 9 kg (including the container) are not accepted in the cabin and can be transported in the baggage hold. You must book a place for your pet at least 48 hours before the flight. The airline carries dogs and cats as checked baggage, subject to the following conditions:

· Pets traveling on board must be at least 12 weeks old (16 weeks old on flights to/from the USA);

· Pet owners must provide all the necessary documentation;

· One passenger can transport up to two pets (cats or dogs) in the baggage hold or take one of them into the cabin if it meets the requirements;

· Two kittens/puppies of the same litter might be transported in one container if each of them weighs no more than 14 kg;

· If you need to transport more than two pets, you can use the service of Aerolineas Argentinas Cargo;

· The pet must be transported in a container/box provided by the owner;

· Please note that your pet might be denied transportation due to bad weather conditions;

· Brachycephalic dogs and cats are not accepted in the baggage hold and can only be carried as cargo.

Brachycephalic dog breeds include American Bulldog, French Bulldog, English Bulldog, Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Japanese Chin, Pekingese, English Toy Spaniel, Shih Tzu, Griffon, Boxer, etc.

Brachycephalic cat breeds are Burmese, Exotic, Himalayan, and Persian.

When choosing a container for the baggage hold, consider the following requirements:

· The container/box must be waterproof and well-ventilated on all four sides;

· It must be made of rigid material and have a metal door and secure locking pins;

· There must be enough space for the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down without any difficulties;

· The pet’s head (including ears) must not touch the roof of the cage when the animal is sitting or standing inside it.

When transportation of pets is impossible in the cabin and in the baggage hold, you can use the service of Aerolineas Argentinas Cargo. In the case of transporting pets as cargo, the service must be booked through Cargo Customer Service. Remember that your pet must comply with the requirements of the Cargo carrier.

Brachycephalic (snub-nosed) dogs and cats are allowed in the cargo hold, provided that the temperature in the cargo hold does not exceed 19°C for any part of the journey.

Documents required for the transportation of pets by Aerolineas Argentinas:

1. Valid rabies vaccination certificate (for dogs and cats over 3 months old);

2. Health certificate issued no earlier than ten days before the flight.

Pet import requirements in your destination country may differ from the airline’s, so it is important to check the governmental policy in advance. You can visit our website’s “International Travel” section for further information.
