Aeromexico

Aeromexico is Mexico's main airline based in Mexico City. The company allows pets on many of its flights in the cabin and the hold.

On most Aeromexico flights, there is a limit of 6 pets allowed in the cabin and the hold. To learn more about your aircraft type’s limitations, please contact customer service at 0800 9775 533.

Aeromexico accepts small dogs and cats in the cabin if the flight duration is less than 6 hours. Each passenger is allowed to take 1 pet on board. If your pet weighs less than 9 kg (including the carrier), you can take it to the cabin under the following conditions:

· Make sure your pet is clean and tidy before flying;

· During the flight, the pet must remain in its container or transport bag;

· The maximum dimensions of the carrier are 40 x 30 x 20 cm;

· You can use a flexible bag or a soft-plastic container for the transportation of your pet;

· The container must be covered with absorbent material;

· It must be well-ventilated;

· There must be enough space for the pet to stand in its natural position, lie down and turn around inside the carrier;

· Pets under 8 weeks of age cannot travel with Aeromexico;

· When you are flying with your pet, you will be provided with a window seat, except the emergency exit rows;

· If your pet is breastfeeding or in veterinary treatment, it won’t be accepted for the flight;

· The fee for routes within Mexico is MXN 1350 per pet in a low season and MXN 1700 in a high season. International flights cost USD 162 per pet in the low season and USD 168 in the high season.

Pets that do not meet the requirements above may be accepted as checked baggage in the hold if places are available. Otherwise, you can use the service of Aeromexico Cargo to transport your pet.

Dogs and cats that exceed the weight limit for transportation in the cabin may be transported in the hold. For transportation in the hold, the combined weight of the pet and the container must not exceed 45 kg. The following requirement also should be met:

· The maximum dimensions of the container are 120 x 110 x 90 cm (100 x 90 x 80 cm for E-190 aircraft);

· The container must comply with the IATA Live Animal Regulations;

· It must have a secure locking system that prevents it from opening;

· There must be enough space for the pet to stand in its natural position, lie down and turn around inside the carrier;

· The container must be well-ventilated;

· The bottom of the container must be covered with absorbent material;

· Brachycephalic (snub-nosed) breeds of animals are not allowed in the hold due to possible breathing difficulties;

· The fee for routes within Mexico is MXN 1600 per pet in a low season and MXN 1950 in a high season. International flights cost USD 252 per pet in the low season and USD 258 in the high season.
