Air France Hop

Air France Hop is a French regional airline and a subsidiary of Air France. The company allows the transportation of pets in the passenger cabin and the baggage hold on most of its flights. On some types of aircraft or certain routes, the transport of animals may be restricted or prohibited.

It is necessary to inform the customer service office about plans to transport a pet. For this, you need to call +44 20 766 00 337 after booking your flight.

Air France Hop allows pets in the cabin on certain flights, as long as the total weight of the pet and the transport container does not exceed 8 kg. If you want to take your pet in the cabin with you, follow these rules:

  • The transport bag or container with a pet must be closed and placed under the seat in front of the pet owner and remain there during the flight;

  • 1 pet in 1 container is allowed per passenger on board;

  • The total dimensions of the container must not exceed 46 x 28 x 24 cm;

  • The fee for this service is 40 euros for a one-way ticket on flights within mainland France and 55 euros within the rest of Europe. This fee should be paid at the airport, upon check-in.

Pets that exceed the maximum weight of 8 kg (including the container) may be transported in the hold. The combined weight of a pet and its transport container must not exceed 75 kg if it travels in the hold. It is allowed to transport up to 3 pets per passenger. The fee for this service is 60 euros for a one-way ticket within mainland France and 100 euros within the rest of Europe. This fee should be paid at the airport, upon check-in.

Pets that travel in the hold must be carried in an appropriate transport container that complies with the following requirements:

  • It must have a fiberglass or rigid plastic shell;

  • It must have at least two doors and a secure and strong locking system to prevent the pet from accidentally exiting the container;

  • It is prohibited to use wheeled containers. If your container has wheels, they must be removed;

  • The container must fit the pet well, so it can stand in the natural position, turn and lie down without any difficulties.

In some cases, a pet cannot travel with the owner in the cabin or the baggage hold. It can be only transported as cargo if:

  • It is not a dog or a cat;

  • It is traveling to a country where transportation of animals is allowed only by cargo transport;

  • It weighs more than 75 kg (including the container);

  • It belongs to one of the snub-nosed breeds. The exception is Pugs, Bulldogs, and Boston Terriers – they are prohibited to be transported as cargo.

Snub-nosed dog breeds that are prohibited from traveling in the hold are Affenpinscher, Staffordshire Terriers, Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, Tosas, American Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, etc. They can be transported in the cabin under certain conditions, but it is safer to transport them as cargo.

Every time you travel with a pet, remember that you have to consider international pet travel regulations as well.

  • Pets must have all the necessary vaccines;

  • All dogs and cats must be identified with a microchip;

  • Pet owners must obtain a European pet passport for the pet’s identification;

  • If you travel outside Europe, for example, to Ireland, Sweden, the UK, or Malta, other requirements may apply. For further information, visit the “International Travel” section on our website. Make sure you are aware of all the regulations in both the country of departure and the country of destination.

Air France Hop declines all responsibility for any incurred costs (booking change fees, hotel stays, kennel fees, etc.). If your pet does not comply with the company’s regulations or the regulations in the country of destination, you are responsible for all additional expenses.
