Air Serbia is the national carrier of Serbia, with its headquarters in Belgrade. The company allows the transportation of pets on most of its flights, but you should inform the staff about your plans in advance. There is a limit to pets transported on each flight, so make sure your pet gets a place by calling the Contact Center. Air Serbia requires information about your pet’s breed, its weight, including the transport container, and the dimensions of the container.

When you plan a journey with a pet, you should always consider the requirements of the airline, as well as the pet policy of the destination country. Air Serbia recommends visiting the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia to learn more about the national rules of pet import.

Before you travel, familiarize yourself with Air Serbia’s conditions for pet transportation:

· Only dogs and cats are allowed on Air Serbia’s flights;

· Pets must be 12 weeks old or older to be accepted for transportation;

· Pet owner must have an import permit and other documents required in the destination country (transit country if necessary);

· All pets must be vaccinated against rabies and have appropriate health certificates;

· Pets must be calm, harmless, and clean. They must not bother other passengers.

Pets are allowed to be transported with Air Serbia if their transport containers meet the following requirements:

· Weight of a pet, including a container, does not exceed 8 kg;

· The maximum dimensions of the container: 40 x 30 x 24 cm;

· One transport container is allowed per passenger;

· There may be a maximum of 2 pets in one container if they belong to the same litter;

· The container must have proper ventilation;

· It must be leak-proof and protected against opening during the flight;

· The container must be secure enough so that no part of the pet's body protrudes from it;

· The pet must be able to stand up in a natural position, turn around and lie down in the container;

· The container must be placed under the seat in front of the pet owner during the flight.

The costs of pet transportation by Air Serbia:

· Within Serbia and between Serbia and Montenegro / Bosnia and Herzegovina / Republic of North Macedonia / Croatia / Slovenia – 25 euros;

· Between Serbia and other European countries – 45 euros;

· Between Serbia and Middle East/Africa – 65 euros;

· Between Serbia and the USA – 85 euros;

· Between Serbia and China – 100 euros.

The service of pet transportation is not refundable.

Air Serbia allows guide dogs on its flights as well. There are also some requirements pet owners should consider:

· All guide dogs must wear muzzles;

· Guide dogs shouldn’t be transported in a container. They must lie next to their owner’s feet and cannot lie on a seat;

· Dogs must be calm, harmless, and clean. They must not bother other passengers;

· Pet owner must have an import permit and other documents required in the destination country (transit country if necessary);

· Dogs must be vaccinated against rabies and have appropriate health certificates.

There are several destinations where you are not allowed to take a guide dog in the cabin with you:

· To/from the UK;

· To/from the UAE – the transportation of hearing dogs is prohibited, but the transportation of guide dogs for visually impaired passengers is allowed;

· To/from all states with strict pet policies.

Pet owners or authorized people are only responsible for the additional costs if a pet is not accepted for transportation due to the company’s policy. Owners are responsible for the injury, illness, or death of their animals, except in the case of negligence or error on the part of Air Serbia. Be careful preparing for the journey and consider all the requirements of the airline and the destination country.
