AirBaltic is a low-cost airline based in Latvia. The company carries out the transportation of pets in the cabin, in the hold, and in the cargo department.

If you want to transport your pet with AirBaltic, you must provide the company with all details while booking your tickets. Contact the AirBaltic Call Center at +44 (0) 20 76 446 116 to give all the necessary information. There is a limit to the number of pets transported on each flight. That is why you should book a trip in advance.

When you travel with a small pet, it can be transported in the aircraft cabin. The passenger should provide a suitable container or a box for pet transportation. Your pet’s weight (including the container) must not exceed 12 kg. Moreover, consider the following requirements:

· The maximum dimensions of the container: 55 x 40 x 23 cm;

· The pet must be able to stand in a natural position in the closed container, as well as to lie down and turn around without any difficulties;

· The container must have proper ventilation and be bite-proof;

· You can take a maximum of 2 pets in one container if they are of the same kind (dogs or cats) and familiar with each other;

· Each pet owner is allowed to have only one container;

· The container must be placed under the seat in front of the owner;

· Passengers with pets mustn’t sit in an emergency exit row. For them, only window seats are possible;

· It is prohibited to open the container and let the pet out during the flight;

· The pet must be clean and odorless. It mustn’t disturb other passengers;

· The cost for a flight with a pet in the cabin is 70 euros per direction.

Pets that weigh more than 12 kg (including the container) should be transported in the cargo hold. Passengers are responsible for the appropriate pet transport container. The following requirements should also be considered:

· The maximum dimensions of the container: 84 x 142 x 84 cm;

· The maximum weight of the pet (including the container) is 75 kg. If your pet exceeds the maximum weight, it can only be transported as cargo;

· The pet must be able to stand in a natural position in the closed container, as well as to lie down and turn around without any difficulties;

· The container must be leak-proof, escape-proof, and safe for the pet. It is recommended to use containers made of harmless materials such as hard plastic or wood. Wire-mesh and soft containers are not accepted;

· Wheeled containers are prohibited. You should remove the wheels if you want to use this container;

· There should be placed food and water bowls for the pet inside the container;

· The container must have proper ventilation on at least 3 sides;

· Due to safety issues, it is prohibited to keep a leash, harness, or tether inside the container. You can fix it at the top of the container or take it with you in your hand luggage;

· If the container with the pet weighs more than 32 kg, it should have at least two handles;

· It is allowed to transport 2 pets in one container if they are of the same kind and the weight of each animal does not exceed 14 kg;

· If you travel with small animals (up to 6 months old), you can transport a maximum of 3 pets in one container;

· The maximum number of pets allowed per person during one flight is 5;

· Pets should be checked-in at least 1 hour before the departure time;

· The costs for pet transportation in the hold are 100 euros if the pet weighs 1-32 kg (including the container) and 200 euros if the pet weighs more than 32 kg (including the container).

There are special requirements on the flights to/from the UK, Ireland, Iceland, and the UAE:

· On flights to the following countries, pets can be transported only as cargo with AirBaltic Cargo. It is prohibited to transport animals in the cabin or the hold;

· On flights from the following countries, pets can be transported in the hold or as cargo. It is prohibited to transport animals in the cabin, except for service dogs.

You should also consider the special import and export requirements of your destination country. Before you travel, collect all the necessary documents, including medical certificates and pet identification documents. If you travel within the EU, make sure that your pet has:

· A microchip for identification;

· An EU pet passport (or health certificate);

· Vaccination against rabies. A pet may be vaccinated when it is 12 weeks old and older, and 21 days must elapse since the vaccination.

If your pet does not comply with the above rules, AirBaltic may refuse to transport it. In this case, the airline is not responsible for any related costs.
