Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines is one of the largest airlines in South Korea. The company allows pets on most of its flights in the cabin and the baggage hold.

Asiana Airlines reserves the right to restrict or deny pets depending on aircraft type and routes. For information and reservations, contact the reservations department at +44-845-602-9900 (the UK), or +1-800-227-4262 (the US).

Asiana Airlines does not allow children to carry pets in the cabin. Each adult passenger over the age of 18 may take 1 pet in the cabin and 2 pets as checked baggage for carriage in the baggage hold.

If you travel with a small pet, you can take it into the cabin on Asiana Airlines flights. In this case, the following requirements must be met:

  • The total weight of the pet and its carrier must not exceed 7 kg;

  • The total dimensions of the pet carrier must not exceed 115 cm (the maximum height must be 21 cm for hard-sided containers and 26 cm for soft-sided containers)

  • The container must be placed under the seat in front of the passenger throughout the flight;

  • It is prohibited to open the container and take the pet out;

  • You can take 1 pet in 1 container into the cabin (or 2 puppies or kittens from the same litter under 6 months old);

  • Pets cannot be placed under the seat in Business Class, so the container must be put in another place according to a flight attendant’s recommendations.

Pet transportation is a chargeable service. The charge depends on your destination country:

  • On domestic flights it is USD 30;

  • to/from Korea and Japan, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong it is USD 140;

  • to/from Korea and Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Russian Far East, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan it is USD 210;

  • to/from Korea and Europe, Oceania, and the US it is USD 290.

These prices also apply to all pets weighing up to 32 kg carried as checked baggage in the hold.

Pets weighing more than 7 kg (including the carrier) can be transported in the baggage hold under the following conditions:

  • The total weight of the pet and its carrier must not exceed 45 kg;

  • The container must be suitable for air transportation, there must be enough space for the pet to stand up, lie down and turn around comfortably;

  • It must be equipped with a secure lock, and the floor of the container must be covered with absorbent material;

  • The container must be made of a durable material such as metal, wood, or plastic;

  • 2 adult pets cannot be in the same container. However, 2 puppies or 2 kittens under 6 months old can be in the same container if they are from the same litter and are accustomed to each other.

Pets weighing up to 32 kg are charged the same fee as small pets in the cabin. Here are the fees for pets weighing between 32 and 45 kg:

  • On domestic flights – USD 60;

  • to/from Korea and Japan, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong – USD 290;

  • to/from Korea and Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Russian Far East, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan – USD 440;

  • to/from Korea and Europe, Oceania, and the USA – USD 590.
