Saudia

Saudia Airlines is a Saudi Arabian national carrier. The company allows pets on most of its flights in the cabin and the hold of the aircraft.

If you want to book a place for your pet on board, you must contact the sales office at +44 (0) 1217900430 (the UK) or 1-800-472-8342 (the USA) as soon as you choose the date of the trip.

Pets must always be accompanied by their owners or authorized representatives. You must arrive at the airport early enough to check the pet’s documentation (health certificate, vaccination certificate, etc.).

If you travel with a small cat, you can take it into the cabin with you. However, dogs are not allowed in the cabin on Saudia flights. Cats can be transported on board subject to the following requirements:

  • The weight of the cat must not exceed 5 kg, including the transport container;

  • The container must be well-ventilated;

  • There must be enough space for the pet to stand up, lie down and turn around comfortably;

  • The pet must be healthy, harmless, and odorless.

Other pets and cats weighing more than 5 kg can be transported in the baggage hold. Saudia transports pets in the hold under the following requirements:

  • Pets must be carried in a suitable container provided by the owner;

  • The dimensions of the container must not exceed 52.5 x 32.5 x 40 cm;

  • The container must be well-ventilated;

  • There must be enough space for the pet to stand up, lie down and turn around comfortably. No part of the pet may protrude beyond the container. If the container is too small for the pet, it can be refused transportation.

Dogs are allowed to travel as checked baggage in the hold if the aircraft you are traveling on is properly ventilated. This service is charged twice the price of excess baggage compared to the final destination.

Additional information

Saudi Arabia only allows entry of hunting/guard/seeing-eye dogs and hearing dogs for blind and deaf passengers. Other kinds of dogs cannot be imported to the country.

Passengers must contact the authorities of the destination countries or transit points for information about the rules for importing pets. For more information, you can visit our website’s “International Travel” section.

Passengers are responsible for ensuring that all the required documents are completed and valid before their journey. Saudia is not responsible if the authorities of other countries refuse entry or transit of pets through their countries due to a lack of necessary documents or other reasons.

Pet transportation fees

Pet fees will be calculated based on twice the amount of excess baggage, depending on the final destination. On international Saudia flights, pets are charged $100 in the cabin and $300 in the hold. The exception is flights to/from the USA and Canada, the fees are different for these destinations. Please contact the sales office for further information.
