These rules are essential to prevent the spread of contagious diseases among animals, so you have to follow them if you want to be allowed to enter the country with your pet. Everyone who wants to travel to Cabo Verde with a dog or a cat has to follow these rules:

· Check if your pet is microchipped. The ISO-compliant microchip is necessary for the pet’s identification and it will simplify customs clearance upon arrival;

· Pets entering Cabo Verde must be vaccinated against rabies between 30 days and 12 months prior to the journey. Most African countries are not rabies-free, so your pet has to be vaccinated;

· You must visit an authorized veterinarian in your country for your pet’s examination. As a result, if your pet is healthy, the veterinarian should complete and issue the sanitary certificate necessary for a visit to Cabo Verde. The certificate must be obtained 48 hours before the journey;
