Traveling with Your Dog on the Island of Mallorca. Pet-friendly hotels of Mallorca

The Mediterranean Sea is paradise for travellers with pets. Year-round warm weather, humidity, and an abundance of greenery. No wonder so many tourists choose coastal countries as destinations for vacations, honeymoons, and other gatherings.

One of the most remarkable places in this lush corner of the world is the island of Mallorca. It is a property of Spain, represents all the best of what this country has to offer: clean beaches, crystal-clear azure water, a mountainous landscape, and a pleasant maritime climate.

People from all over the world come here to take in the ancient architecture and take boat tours through flooded caves while adrenaline junkies dive into the water from the cliffs above.

We’ve put together the perfect itinerary for walking with your pet around this beautiful and unforgettable place.

The Best Sight-Seeing Routes in Mallorca for Walking Your Dog

Our journey begins in the island’s capital - Palma de Mallorca. This modern city has an ancient history, as reflected in its architecture: middle-eastern arches next to Arab baths, European palaces by Catholic cathedrals, and Renaissance buildings interspersed with Gothic churches.

Take your pet to see the Moorish-style Royal Palace and Cathedral of La Almudaina. The huge space between these buildings emphasizes their grandeur, and through their massive arches you can see the endless green expanses of this amazing island.

Just a few minutes of leisurely strolling is all that stands between you and the 13th-century Santa Maria Cathedral. Not only can you capture great photos with your four-legged friend here, but you can also feel the antiquity of this place as you touch history with your own hands.

The old town is a perfect place to walk with your dog. There are plenty of narrow, winding streets that form a sort of labyrinth. Feel free to get lost in them for a while as you soak up the capital’s atmosphere. When you’re ready to go back, your four-legged friend will undoubtedly get you back on the right path.

After enjoying the architecture of Palma de Mallorca, head towards the Mediterranean coast. Luckily, Mallorca has plenty of dog-friendly beaches. If you see the inscription “Playa Para Perros” (beach for dogs), you can rest assured that this is a safe place for your four-legged friend, so soak up the gentle rays of the sun and swim to your heart's content in fluffy company. We recommend the following places: Punta Marroig in Palmanova (south Mallorca), Platja de Can beach in Port de Pollença (north Mallorca), and Es Carnatge beach just outside of Palma de Mallorca.

If you happen to be on the island during the off-season for tourism, then keep in mind that many municipalities lift the restriction on visiting the beach with a dog. These areas include: Arta, Muro, Capdepera, Alcudia, Andratx and Pollenca.

Dog-friendly parks are marked with a “Parques Caninos” sign, where four-legged companions can play together and wear themselves out while you take fun photos. You can start with these green areas: Krekovic Park, Sa Falca Verda, Juan Gris, la Ribera, and de Sagrat Cor. These are popular spots for both tourists and locals to take their pets.

Why not take your pet on a boat ride for another adventure? We recommend an excursion from Puerto de Alcudia to Cape Formentor. The trip takes about four hours and offers views of stunning cliffs and amazing mountain ranges, mysterious caves, and countless bays and beaches. You can also admire the dense evergreen forests from afar.
